At DSUniversity we endorse a commitment to lifelong learning through excellence in professional education. This is training that accomplishes two goals:
· Scrapes the Barnacles
· Sharpens the Blade
Scrape the Barnacles – Even successful real estate professionals accumulate unwanted baggage over the years. These “barnacles” come in many different forms. Like the tangle of growth on the hull of a sleek sailboat, they are not readily visible, but they drag you down, reduce your forward progress, and make good navigation harder. As a DSUniversity instructor, Marla Webb presents education sessions that equip professionals to go faster, smarter, farther by reducing the drag of bad habits, tunnel vision, and outdated ideas.
Sharpen the Blade – One of Marla’s favorites is the story of a wise man who won a wood-cutting contest against a younger, brawnier lumberjack. The more experienced fellow spent a good part of the allotted time just sharpening his axe. Though he got started later, and had much less muscle power, he was able to do more and win because of his commitment to invest in preparation. Real estate professionals must be lifelong learners who wisely invest time to obtain better tools and techniques to tackle challenges like the foreclosure crisis affecting us now and in the near future.
What do you think about the following statements?
Sounds a bit harsh, doesn’t it? But in business, truth and reality are often less than gentle! It is a fact that making a commitment to lifelong learning is absolutely essential. Those who do are likely to succeed. Those who don’t will only envy the success of others.
